Rails to be Nerfed in RoboCraft!

The devs have spoken and it shall be so, Heavy restrictions not on the damage of the rail guns, but on the way they function and fire will be taking place. Lets get into the breakdown of just whats changing!

The Great Rail Nerf of 2014

Many changes have been implemented in order to give players a chance to defend themselves when fighting against rail guns. No longer should your Tank be triple tapped into oblivion! As there is a new accuracy function implemented into the guns. Whenever the Rail Gun moves quickly or is fired it will start an accuracy cooldown that will diminish accuracy for a short time, allowing the person shot a moment to react before the next shot connects. The red laser that normally gives you away will also be seen for a short period of time BEFORE the rail guns are actually able to fire. One good point for Rail Gunners is that you can now press R to begin reloading the Rail Guns without having to fire off dummy shots! Slightly improved reload time when doing this also. Below is the full list of changes and a link to the original posting on the RoboCraft forums.

  • The red laser will appear a few seconds before the Rail is fully charged

  • Moving the camera to aim too quickly will reduce the accuracy of the Rail, moving it very slowly will not
  • The above will mean that Rail’s need to aim, wait a couple of seconds, and then fire to get full accuracy, which will give people playing against Rail a little more time to respond
  • Firing the Rail will also trigger this loss in accuracy, so after firing a shot, a Rail user will need to wait a couple of seconds to regain full accuracy for each subsequent shot
  • Rail’s will be able to push ‘R’ or the Middle Mouse Wheel in order to reload the Rail, as opposed to having to fire off dummy shots to start the reload. Reloading before you’ve fired all shots will speed up the reload, but only slightly
